While surfing through Google News this afternoon, I spotted this article, and it got my dander up!

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2009/09/obama-charlie-sheen-911.html

For some reason the Los Angeles Times felt it news worthy that Charlie Sheen would demand that Obama begin an investigation into the “9/11 Cover-Up”. While I think the whole request is absurd, thats not what irked me. What particularly sparked my interest was that this was NEWS. Charlie Sheen demands something from the President, and this is considered “Breaking News” because of his celebrity.

What has our country come to that one individual’s opinion means more than others’, and has more validity than others’, because they’ve been on television or in movies?! Does Charlie Sheen have specialized training into the mechanics of buildings and the science behind explosion that make him an authority who should be heard on the subject of a suggested cover up regarding the destruction of the World Trade Center in 2001? I doubt it.

Of course, when regular inconspicuous citizens, who actually know what they’re talking about and how it affects them speak, they’re ignored by the heavy majority of the MSM (Mainstream Media). I seem to remember back in April, right around the 15th in fact, when there were some gatherings across the nation questioning government taxation, spending and general government action. I can’t seem to remember what they were called…Oh that’s right! They were called TEA Parties – TEA standing for: Taxed Enough Already. They weren’t that big, according to the government and media – only an estimated 750,000 to 1,000,000 individuals across the country. Individuals who had been taxed, so they new what they were protesting about – unlike charlie sheen’s opinion, which has no legs to stand on.

These individuals were ignored by the press. These individuals were ignored by the news networks and outlets. Why? Aren’t all the citizens of the United States supposed to be “Created Equal” and “Endowed with Unalienable Rights” which include “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.”? Well, I guess according to the media elites, its not as simple as that. The lower and middle classes who the claim to speak for don’t truly matter when they give their opinions on politics and issues that actually affect them – I guess we’re to stupid to have our government be actually be “of the people, by the people, for the people!” It only matters what the rich, the elite, the enabled, the privileged, the popular think … such unbiased, non-partisan media!

We pledge Allegiance to the United States of America. We don’t pledge allegiance to political correctness. We don’t pledge allegiance to the government – federal state or otherwise. We don’t pledge allegiance to the MSM! We pledge allegiance to the ideal of the United States, a nation where all are equal, have the opportunity to succeed, we have the opportunity to be free, but then we cave to the power of the government and the media and what they think are best.

I urge everyone to stand up and be heard. I don’t have a problem with celebrities and others, like Charlie Sheen, being heard. I have a problem that their opinions are news and that everyone else’s opinions are moot and void, and should be taken with a grain of salt. Be heard – force the government and the media to be heard. Don’t be violent or impudent, but be forceful. Show this country that we can’t be run over, that if we get knocked down we’ll get back up, that we have standards even if we don’t meet them, that we will always stand up for truth and honesty and what’s right, and that we want this nation to remain “One Nation, Under God, Indivisible, With Liberty and Justice For All!”

Albert Einstein is quoted as saying, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.” If this is the case, then the United States Governing System is insane. Welcome to my latest political rant!

How hard is it to learn from the past?? This rhetorical question shouldn’t be taken lightly. In this administration, as well as parts of the last 2 administrations, the federal government has tried to fix problems through government intervention (I say “tried” because they either fail or create bigger problems). This is not a new phenomenon – its been tried before. The Leftist’s “Savior of Humanity”, President Franklin D. Roosevelt tried these same tactics during the great depression and came close to crippling the economy. As noted on the Glenn Beck program on 07/31/09, FDR tried to intervene with the low costs of goods through government intervention. His proposition: Destroy cotton crops and baby pigs so that the higher demand would produce a higher priced. The Problem: WE WERE IN A DEPRESSION! PEOPLE NEEDED CLOTHES! PEOPLE NEEDED FOOD! FDR’s solution: Destroy food and clothes!

Now we move to the current administration. America falls into a recession that seemed to be instigated by people purchasing items, particularly houses, that they could not afford. The government’s solution: Spend money we don’t have help people buy things they can’t afford. They’ve said to try to buy houses and if something happens, they’ll be able to rent the homes from the government – THIS IS WHAT STARTED THE PROBLEM!

The car industry begins to fail. People aren’t spending money on new cars because they don’t have money. The government’s solution: spend money the nation can’t afford on “clunkers” so people can buy discounted new cars. However, PEOPLE DON’T HAVE MONEY! The People who couldn’t afford to buy a new car and still can’t afford a new car a the discounted price, are NOT allowed to purchase these used cars because the government wants to destroy them! Used car dealers are not allowed to purchase parts until the cars are crushed, and hard to salvage and then are only allowed to keep them in stock for 6 months because they’ll “go bad”!!! Common sense should show that you should NOT destroy cheap transportation when people CAN’T afford new vehicles!

History shows that more regulations of the market generate more problems in the market!!! Ronald Reagan once stated, “Government is not the solution to the problem; Government is the problem.” and “The ten most dangerous words in the English Language are, ‘Hello, I’m from the Government and I’m here to help.’ “

This does not even include the horrible monstrosity of a health care package being proposed currently.

Our founding fathers fought for freedom. “Give me Liberty or Give me death,” Patrick Henry said! How soon we forget. Why do we give freedoms to the government? Why do we want to give our money to the government to have them make decisions we make about our welfare and protections? A federal government cannot know what’s going on in my individual house! The federal governent cannot know what’s best for a small town any better than I cannot know what’s best to solve the financial situation in San Diego, CA because I live across the country!

I love my God! I love my Church! I love my Family! I love my Town! I Love my State! I love my Country! I don’t want them destroyed by a system of government that takes their freedom away and kills them from the inside out. Martin Luther said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere!” How can we hope to give a bright future to the next generation, our children and grandchildren, if we can’t learn from the mistakes and victories of the past??!!

I just wrote this “from the hip” so if I made any grammatical mistakes or inaccurate statements, I apologize. However, I won’t apologize for my beliefs or for my love of freedom and the American Dream. I’d like to leave you with the following quote by the late former Senator Barry Goldwater:

“I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice! And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.”

I’m back everybody, after being discouraged about the state of the state in 2008 I forgot to update this site, but I’m ready for a fresh start here in 2009. My resolution is to keep this blog updated so you can be informed about issues facing CT this year, from a conservative standpoint!

I’m going to post and comment on a recent article I found:

http://www.courant.com/news/politics/hc-courtappointment0109.artjan09,0,6597645.story

I don’t know much about this issue, but I would like to comment on Rep. Lawlor’s comments, feeling that this could be a violation of Governor Rell’s promise to make sure the supreme court had a diversified bench, being that Judge McLachlan is white. True diversity is to look for the best candidate for the job, regardless of race, not picking someone because they’re a minority.

“GOP Fails To Recruit Minority Candidates”

So, the whole point of this article is to talk about how the
GOP has been unable to recruit minorities to be candidates for office.

My question is this: “Why should a party have to recruit candidates based on race – isn’t that racism in itself?”
Picking candidates because of race and not because of what they believe and have knowledge of is total and complete racism. If the GOP is REALLY trying to recruit on the basis of race, then they are being just as racially prejudice as their counterparts, if not more so.

If we intend to rid this nation of 90% of its racial prejudice, we MUST start by refusing to identify people by their race. I may be white, but my nationality is American. If your skin is black, you’re NOT an African-American – You’re an AMERICAN!!! How can we expect racism to decline if we give scholarships and decide who is accepted into college based on race, have race and skin color listed on job applications, and have things like “Black History Month”? I know this may sound trivial, but do you realize the outrage that would occur if there was a “White History Month”?

We need to achieve the results that Martin Luther King Junior wished for when stating, “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” We need to judge people based on the content of their character, not their skin color and ethnic background – and it must be equal, not reverse racism. How does recognizing the first black coach to win a Superbowl Championship as a black (Tony Dungy), not an American, help stop racism? It doesn’t – it helps to increase the racial divide in our nation. Coach Dungy was interviewed after the victory and asked how it felt to be the first black coach to win the Superbowl. He said that, of course, he was proud to be the first, but he was even more proud to be a Christian coach winning the Superbowl. Mr. Dungy has the proper attitude – he would rather be judged on the content of his character than his skin and all of America needs to adhere this policy – Democrats AND Republicans
